Couple marry computers with invites for new age in wedding invitations!
By Stephen Pounds
Nancy Bryant not only got a husband but also a new business in
her wedding last year. Bryant and husband, Dane Bryant of Boca
Raton, met on a computer-dating site and decided to create a CD-ROM,
with pictures of themselves and their parents, to send out to family
and friends for their wedding.
They included old photos of their
parents' weddings that they scanned into their computer and pictures
of them growing up.
"We
wanted top keep the computer theme since that is how we met.
Next thing I knew, I am getting calls from family members about
it. It became a keepsake,” Nancy
Bryant said.
Now,
the two offer CD-ROMs from their Web site, www.elegantinvites.net,
where couples can pick out electronic and multimedia wedding
invitations that can include family photos and 90 seconds of streaming
video.
They
can even make the RSVP, a digital response over the Web. The
days of the staid wedding invitation with raided lettering seem
to be at an end.
“That's where the industry is going. People today, when they are
looking for information, go to the Internet,” Nancy Bryant said.
Still, she offers the print version too but rarely do couples buy
it.
